ATOMIC Vital-Park Altenmarkt-Zauchensee

What makes cycling in the ATOMIC Vital-Park so much fun, is the beautiful alpine world which constantly surrounds you.  From laid-back bike rides along flat trails with relatively few uphill stages, to steep mountain ascents followed by exhilarating downhill adventures.  Regardless of your preference, you are certain to find the route that is perfect for you.

Touring Tips

Make your own travel arrangements,

either by car or train (make arrangements for us to pick you up from the station), garage parking is available.
Accommodation at the Sinnhubbauer in romantic rooms and apartments with four-poster beds, shower/WC, satellite TV and radio, breakfast buffet.
In the evening: Guided bike tour around Altenmarkt ca. 6 km

Tour to the headwaters of the Enns (ca. 40 km roundtrip)

From Altenmarkt gently uphill via Flachau to Flachauwinkl, to the start of the Enns bike path next to the "Gasthofalm". Option to ride out to the headwaters of the Enns (ca. 1.5 hours), incl. a refreshment break at one of the "Ennsalmen", or at the Seestüberl on the shores of the Winklsee.
Return and spend the night at the Sinnhubbauer

Tour Radstadt-Schladming-Ramsau-Filzmoos (50 km)

From Altenmarkt to Radstadt gently downhill via Mandling and Schladming to Ramsau, returning via the beautiful mountain village of Filzmoos to Altenmarkt.

Tour Radstadt-Schladming-Ramsau-Filzmoos (50 km ) Tour Eben- Bischofshofen-St. Johann- Wagrain-Flachau-Altenmarkt (50 km)

From Altenmarkt to Eben, downhill to Hüttau, Pöham, Bischofshofen, along the River Salzach via the Salzach bike path to St. Johann, climbing gradually. Opportunity to visit Lichtenstein Gorge. Return via Wagrain ( the road climbs) and Flachau to Altenmarkt.

Tour Altenmarkt – Zauchensee (20 km roundtrip)

From Altenmarkt along the romantic Mühlenweg in the direction of Zauchensee. Then either climbing on the paved road, or on the old Zauchensee road ( gravel), away from traffic next to the Zauchbach,  to Zauchensee. Stop in at one of the rustic alpine huts there.
Option to ride the Gamskogel lift to the top of the Gamskogel and to take one of the beautiful paths leading back to the valley.

Tour up to the Rossbrand (mountain tour, 15 km)

From Altenmarkt to Radstadt followed by a steep climb along the Rossbrandstrasse.
Your efforts are rewarded by glorious views from on top of the summit, including the Dachstein, Bischofsmütze, the entire Ennstal, all the way out to the Grossglockner on a clear day.

 

Tour to Filzmoos and the Hofalmen (45 km roundtrip)

From Altenmarkt via Eben to Filzmoos, easy to moderate climb as far as the Oberhofalmen at the foot of the Bischofsmütze, a romantically beautiful mountain world.

Tour via Wagrain to Lake Jägersee (55 km roundtrip)

From Altenmarkt via Flachau to Wagrain, gently downhill, then to Kleinarl and continuing to the Jägersee, splendid mountain lake circumnavigated by a beautiful bike path.  Option to make your way out to the Tappenkarsee. 2.5 hours total walking time.

The youngest of the major riverside biking routes – the Enns Bike Path – through some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Austria. A true insider tip for nature lovers, this route takes you through three Austrian provinces - Salzburg, Styria, Upper Austria - and through five different tourism regions - Salzburger Sportwelt, Dachstein-Tauern, Grimming Mountain Region, Gesäuse Nature Region and the Kalkalpen National Park).
