Away from the alpine hills, gliding through pristine winter countryside - in the cross-country ski mecca of Altenmarkt-Zauchensee, in the heart of the Salzburger Sportwelt region, you will experience 250 km of ski trails and unsurpassed skiing enjoyment. The experts have recognized this fact, too, crowning the Altenmarkt-Zauchensee region as one of the three best areas in Austria. New trail markings, an easy-to-understand trail map and free use of the trails are all a matter of course here with us.

"The extraordinary snow conditions in our broad valley are quite unique", says Matthäus Steffner, cross-country pioneer from Altenmarkt-Zauchensee.  Our alpine trails in Zauchensee (6 km, a section of the Zauchensee Forest Trail) at elevations from 1,100 m to 1,350 m, Gnadenalm (10 km) at 1,350 m and the Rossbrand (14 km) at 1,700 m, all promise perfect snow conditions until well into April. A grand total of 250 km of superbly maintained and tracked trails, ranging from easy to expert, tracked for both classic and skating technique, set the pulses of all true-blue cross-country fans racing in excited anticipation.
